Dr Sivamohan Valluvan

Assistant Professor in Sociology at University of Warwick, Dr Valluvan’s ongoing research areas include the rise of a new nationalism that traverses a range of ideological and cultural repertoires (a project that saw the recent publication of his monograph, The Clamour of Nationalism); a British Academy-funded project located in Oldham aimed at critically unpacking recent invocations of a ‘Left Behind’ in much public analysis; and also, the affective and spatial dimensions of contemporary urban inequality, with particular emphasis on consumerist practices of social identity, urban access and morality.
