Network, immerse and play at Cultureword’s Future Visions festival on Tuesday September 17th at Chuck Gallery

Future Visions is an exploration of digital and live literature, coming at you in weird and wonderful ways

Programme Highlights:

Green Futures

Hear live poetry that imagines future ecologies and environments. Expect performances from vibrant Manchester writers including Maya Chowdhry, Maz Hedgehog, and Cansu Han.

Imagine Malcolm X as a Game Designer

Participate in (or lean back and watch) a wild, black consciousness-seeded RPG Game created by a team of radical writers to maintain black consciousness in a world of heightened white privilege. That’s Simulacrum Funk, the video game, introduced by co-creator Tariq Mehmood.

Mapping Histories: #HardPressed Live

To envision the future, we must first understand the past. Hear from our archivist, Heena Patel, as she brings together writers reflecting on our city’s historical literature. Also, introducing Hard Pressed, mapping Manchester’s radical small presses.

Moss Side: A Journey Through Time

Moss Side is a neighbourhood that has been caricatured in and beyond Greater Manchester. Tonight we give local writers the opportunity to respond to historical depictions of the area, exploring the possibilities and potential of this dynamic neighbourhood

Plus

  • Interact with original story games by creatives from Manchester and Beirut.

  • Network over a light free buffet, with writers, artists, activists and innovators who are keen on experimentation, collaboration and devising new forms of literature-infused art.

We are very lucky to be hosting Future Visions at the illustrious Chuck Gallery, so wear your most fabulous clothes if you would like to compliment the backdrop of beautiful contemporary African art. We look forward to seeing you there.
