How to submit and conditions of entry

The competition is open to anyone who lives or works in the North of England

  • All poems should be your own, original work for which you own the copyright.
  • Poems should be previously unpublished.
  • Poems should be no more than 60 lines in length.

You can either email your poems or post them.

 

If posting:

Please post your poems to: Food Anthology, Commonword, 6 Mount Street, Manchester M2 5NS. Posted manuscripts cannot  be returned.

Posted entries must be on one side of A4 paper, typed.

Please do not print your name on any of your work but instead include a separate sheet listing:

*     Titles of poems submitted
*     Name
*     Postal Address
*     Postcode
*     Telephone number
*     email

If emailing:

Email your poem(s)  to food@cultureword.org.uk with the subject heading: ‘Commonword Food Anthology Submission’.   Each poem entered should be a separate Word file attachment in Times New Roman, 12  point.

Once received, poems cannot be swapped or amended.

The   judge’s decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered  into  regarding the results.  Short-listing will be done by Commonword staff.  The winner will be chosen by Pete Kalu, Artistic Director of Commonword.

The closing date is 31st May 2012

The winner and authors of selected poems will be notified by 30 June 2012

All entrants retain copyright of their work but, by entering, grant Commonword the right to publish their entry as part of a food anthology collection and e-book within a period of 24 months after results are declared.

The authors of the poems selected for publication in the anthology agree to assist in publicising the  collection.
